Get found in the Search Engines

Is your website getting as much traffic as you would like? If not, you might need an evaluation of your SEO.

SEO, short for search engine optimization, is the term for improving the visibility of your website in search engines. SEO uses knowledge of the search engines’ algorithms to raise your website in the rankings. These algorithms rank each page of your site independently.

SEO is different from SEM, or search engine marketing. SEM uses paid programs to gain greater visibility for your website. Google adwords is probably the most well known of these programs.

SEO can target different types of search including local search, industry-specific search, image search, and video search.

SEO uses keywords and keyphrases. These are the terms your customers are using to search for you. If you have the wrong terms, they can’t find you. To be effective, these keywords and keyphrases should be carefully woven into your site. These help your pages appear at the top of the search engine results.

An SEO evaluation includes:

  • Terms: what words and phrases real people are searching for
  • Trends: how the searches today compare with last month and last year
  • Links: inbound, in-site, and outbound
  • Competition: the keywords/phrases your competitors are using
  • Search Engine View: how the search engines view select pages on your website

An SEO evaluation comprises an initial consultation with a quick look at your website and a review of your current keywords/keyphrases. We also discuss what you would like to see your site achieve.

Then I spend some time and take an in-depth look at your SEO, including the points above. When my review is complete, I send you a detailed report with suggestions for improving your SEO.

This report will contain suggestions for strengthening your site’s visibility, well as a review of how Google ‘sees’ your most important pages. Depending on my findings, I may suggest targeting different keywords or using keywords more frequently on your site. I can incorporate these keywords with direct response content so prospects who find your site will be converted into customers. I can also recommend sites from which to seek inbound links.
